About the Awards
The Montana Contractors’ Association
is a statewide trade association representing
The Association established the Concrete
Excellence Awards program to recognize the extensive, imaginative and aesthetic
uses of concrete by architects, engineers, general contractors and concrete
producers.
Your Reward
As a winner of MCA’s Concrete
Excellence Award you will receive the recognition that your outstanding
accomplishment deserves. Winners receive the attractive “Concrete Excellence”
plaque.
(Individual
awards will be presented to the owner, architect, engineer, contractor,
concrete suppliers, precast suppliers and others involved
in the project.)
The
awards are presented at a special dinner at MCA’s January convention. The
dinner is one of MCA’s most memorable occasions and as a winner, you will be in
the spotlight.
Concrete Excellence winners will
also be featured in a special section of the MCA newsletter. Press releases will be distributed to
statewide newspapers.
Eligibility
Nominations will be accepted from
any person or firm for any of their projects using concrete within
Projects may be submitted for
nomination a second time if they do not receive an award upon the first
submittal.
Entry Rules
1. All entries must be completed during
the last two calendar years (2000 and 2001).
2. Include
at least one photo of project, the larger the better (either color or black
& white). More than one photo from different angles is preferred.
3. Judges decisions are final
Award Categories
• INDUSTRIAL/COMMERCIAL — factory,
warehouse, office, bank, shopping center, etc.
• PUBLIC FACILITY — government buildings,
environmental projects, schools, etc.
• RESIDENTIAL (large or small) — single
family private homes, multiple family - apartments/condos
• TRANSPORTATION — Bridges, highway
structures, airport expansion, etc.
• NEW AND INNOVATIVE CONCRETE USES
• ARCHITECTURAL CONCRETE — architectural
& precast panels, patterns or stamped concrete
and any other form considered architecturally appealing.
• AGRICULTURAL/RURAL CONCRETE — agricultural
or rural concrete applications.
What to Submit
All entries must include the
following official nomination form with:

Project Location (address/nearest city)
·
Owner (private or public)
·
Contractor (company principally
responsible for the project)
·
Concrete suppliers
·
Precast suppliers
·
Architect/engineer responsible for design
·
Others involved in the project team
·
A narrative with each picture
Judging
Judging will be done by an
independent panel of judges. The judge’s
decision may be based on the following criteria:
·
creative and functional design
·
superior craftsmanship
·
unique or innovative use of concrete
·
percentage of concrete used in the project.
