MCA Members – our 2024 Summer Outing is set to tee off August 14-16 in Butte America! The Copper King Hotel will host our meetings, receptions, and dinner, while golfing will take place at Butte Country Club and trap shooting will be at Butte Trap. Golf and trap registrations are sold out; however, we still have sponsorship opportunities remaining as well as openings for the Wednesday reception, Thursday dinner, and Friday BBQ.

Thank You Summer Outing Sponsors!

Please help us in recognizing the sponsorship efforts of the following MCA members! Without their continued support, the MCA would not be able to continue bringing the high level of value to our Summer Outing participants:

Summer Outing Member Activities

CLC Cornhole Tournament: Compete for your chance to win cash and a set of MCA branded cornhole boards! The MCA’s Construction Leadership Council (CLC) is inviting all Summer Outing participants to join in on the fun during their annual cornhole tournament. The bag tossing starts at 5:00pm during the Wednesday evening reception on August 14. Come join us for some fun, beverages, networking, and competition! The CLC is dedicated to developing the future leaders of Montana’s construction industry. With meetings four times a year across the state, the CLC provides its members with opportunities to develop their leadership and communication skills, network with other construction professionals, and develop relationships with their peers.

Golf Scramble & Best Ball: Recognized as the first golf course established in Montana and one the state’s finest country clubs, Butte Country Club will host the MCA Summer Outing scramble and Best Ball competition. Tune up your game during Thursday’s opening round and submit your individual score to be eligible for Best Ball prizes. During Friday’s scramble, foursomes will be set using golfer handicaps and Thursday scores. Trophies are awarded to the MCA’s winning scramble team during Friday’s BBQ at the conclusion of the event. On course prizes will be awarded for each hole, and make sure you visit with MCA member hole sponsors as they will be handing swag, snacks and beverages during your rounds.

Trap Shooting & Annie Oakley Competition: Known as the Butte Rod & Gun Club as early as 1887, today’s Butte Trap Club continues to host some of the oldest and longest running competitions in Montana. For our MCA members that would prefer to spend a couple days blasting away at some orange clays rather than chasing around a white golf ball, this is the event for you! Stick around for Friday’s “Annie Oakley” competition to find out who is the sharpest shooter in the Association. Trophies are awarded to top two-person team. Afterwards, shooters are invited to head over to Butte Country Club for more prizes and the Friday BBQ.

Thursday Evening Banquet & Calcutta: After Thursday’s, participants and attendees will gather at the Copper King Hotel for an evening of entertainment, including a reception, banquet, competitions, raffle, and the main event – the Calcutta. Golf and trap teams will be announced and auctioned off to the highest bidders. Remember — you must have cash to participate in the Calcutta! The MCA Associates Division is responsible for putting on the Summer Outing, and all proceeds generated are used to fund the Associates Presidential Scholarships for high school graduates and current college undergraduates. This year, the Associates awarded nine scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each to recipients whose parents or guardians are members of the MCA.

Putting Competition, Raffle, Heads & Tails, and more!

New this year will be the Putting Competition! During Thursday’s round, each player will have one attempt at the designated putt setup on the putting green behind hole #1. Each player that makes the designated putt will qualify for a more difficult putt on Friday. If one player makes Friday’s putt, they will take home $1,000! If one or more players makes the putt, they will split $1,000 in cash prize (i.e. if one player makes, they win $1,000, if two players make the putt, they each win $500, and so forth). If no players make the putt on Friday, then the player with the putt that comes to rest closest to the hole will win a $100 cash prize. In addition, Summer Outing participants also have the chance to walk away as winners during Thursday evening’s Associates gun raffle, as well as the hilarious Heads & Tails competition!
